Mathew McLain, born March 1, 1985, in Yukon, Oklahoma, passed away on May 8, 2026, at his home in Wichita, Kansas.

Mathew was known for his infectious laugh and mischievous nature. He had a way of making people laugh and was full of random facts and stories. He enjoyed reading and loved spending time outdoors, especially fishing, gardening, and being in nature.

He loved working with his hands and attended Butler County Community College for welding. Whether building, fixing, or creating something, Mathew found satisfaction in hands-on work and simple moments outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glennda Carter and David McLain, and his grandmother, Marcyle Gearhart.

He is survived by his grandmother, Beverly Sharpsteen; his siblings, Melinda Edmondson, Meighan Parnell, Davey McLain, Emily McLain, Marc McLain, Michael McLain, and Ryan McLain; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He will be remembered for his humor, his curiosity, and the unique energy he brought to the people around him.
