Obituary

Melissa Marlene Wyss, 57, of Wamego, Kansas passed away in Herington, Kansas on February 7th , 2026 surrounded by her loved ones.


Melissa was born in Burlington, Iowa on October 9th, 1968. She graduated from Catalina Magnet High School in 1987. On November 25th, 1989, Melissa married into the Wyss family and had 3 wonderful children.


Melissa adored her six grandchildren. She cherished their time together, whether she was picking them up from school for a special treat or curling up to watch TV and eat plenty of popcorn. To her grandchildren, she was a source of love and fun.


Known for her beautiful singing voice, Melissa had a gift for touching the hearts of those who heard her. She was an avid reader and a lover of nature, finding great peace and joy in the mountains and enjoyed many camping trips with her family.


She is survived by her; children: Blain Wyss of Wamego, KS, Michael (Mirisa) Wyss of Herington, KS, and Charis (Brandon) Kurth of White City, KS, her grandchildren: Bentley and Luca Wyss, Brylin Cady, Dakota, William, and Grant Kurth, and her sisters: Lynn (Max) Harbert of Cabot, AR and Shirley (Paul) Paswaters Richmond, KY.


She was preceded in death by; her son: Johnathan Wyss, her mother: Ina Mae White, her sister: Christine Ann Vandervoort, and her brother: Clark Vandervoort Jr.


At this time the family will not be holding a memorial service or celebration of life.


In gratitude for the exceptional care provided during Melissa's final moments, Michael, Blain, Charis and their families suggest memorial donations be made to Hospice of Dickinson County at 1111 N. Brady, Abilene, Kansas 67410.
