Melvin Leroy Kirk, 73, died Thursday, May 7, 2026 at his daughter's home in Derby, Kansas.

He was born on May 5, 1953. The family traveled across the world as Melvin's father served in the military.

After graduating from high school, Melvin served in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam Conflict.

For the past several years he had lived in McPherson, Kansas. Melvin enjoyed riding his motorcycle. And spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his daughters Lashane Moore of Derby Ks, Latonya Giles of Colorado Springs, Colo.; sons Melvin Tyrcee Kirk of Manhattan, Ks., Kirk Craig of McPherson Ks, Melvin L. Kirk of Westminster Colo; 22 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Melvin is preceded in death by his son Tyrone Morgan; parents; along with his granddaughter Jocelyn.

Graveside and inurnment services with military honors will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, May 15 at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery in Winfield, Kansas.
