Michael Shafer

Michael Lee Shafer, 68, of Derby, died Friday, October 9, 2026 at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas.

He was born on November 26, 1957 in Los Angeles, California. Michael graduated from high school in Compton, California.

He lived in the Los Angeles area until moving to Wichita in 1987. Prior to retiring he had worked in the warehouse at Kansas Land Tire for 10 years.

Michael was a member of First Baptist Church in Mulvane. He enjoyed tinkering with things and being an automobile mechanic. He enjoyed having a BBQ for family and friends and spending time with animals.

Survivors include his wife Lisha Renee Crow of the home, who he married on July 7, 2007. His children Michael and Matthew Shafer both of the Los Angeles area; Amanda Jeakins and husband Chase Clark of Wichita, Christina Easley and husband Ron of El Dorado, Ks.; grandchildren Mackenzie, Makayla, Payton, Morgan; brother Jeff and sister Patty both of the Los Angeles area.

Michael is preceded in death by his father Larry Shafer; mother Ivona Burg; and brother Dale Shafer.

A Celebration of Life will be announced by Affordable Cremations Plus, Wichita, Kansas.
