Monty W. Peck, 86, of Towanda, KS, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 8, 2025.

Monty was born on April 11, 1938, in Hunter, Oklahoma, to Oscar and Elizabeth (Murray) Peck.  Monty grew up in Wichita Kansas, and at 17 years old he joined the U. S. Navy on April 14, 1955.  After completing his 4 years of obligated service he received an honorable discharge as an Aviation Electrician's Mate Third Class Petty Officer and returned home to Wichita Kansas.  He met the love of his life, Frances M. Black, and they were married on December 24, 1960, and remained married until his passing.

Monty reenlisted back into the U.S. Navy in January 1961 completed 17 more years of active duty and retired from the Navy as an Aviation Antisubmarine Warfare Technician Chief Petty Officer with 21 years of faithful service.  During Monty's service, he and Frances lived in several states, Tennessee, Texas, Maryland, Virginia, Florida, and the US territory of Puerto Rico.  During Monty's service years, they had 3 sons, Timothy W., Jeffery T., and Michael I. On June 1, 1976, Monty retired from the Navy, and he, Frances, and the 3 boys relocated from Jacksonville Florida to Benton Kansas.  On October 15, 1977, they were blessed with the birth of their 4th son Travis A. Peck.

After Monty retired from the Navy, he worked full-time at National Cash Register (NCR) in Wichita KS, as a Quality Assurance Technician, and he went back to school and received his GED. He then attended Wichita Vo-Tech, and Butler County Community College in May 1982, he received his Associate Degree in Applied Science from Butler County Community College and graduated with honors.  Even while working a full-time job and attending school Monty still made the time to attend the boys' school and sporting events.  In 1991 Monty went on to work for Boeing Wichita as a Maintenance Electrician and April 2000 retired.

Monty loved to go camping and fishing, spending time with his family, he also really enjoyed working in his garden and taking care of his yard. Monty also enjoyed watching the Chiefs and Royals play.

Monty is survived by his son Michael and daughter-in-law Kimberly (Cook) Peck of Derby, KS, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Monty is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar T. Peck, and Elizabeth M. (Peck) Bulleigh; his brothers Fletcher Reed, Ellis Dean Peck, and Rex J. Peck; sons, Timothy W. Peck, Jeffery T. Peck, and Travis A. Peck; granddaughters, Shelby J. Peck and Elizabeth M. Peck.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Affordable Cremations Plus, Wichita, Kansas.
