Nancy Lee
Powers
Oct 22, 1947 — Aug 19, 2025
Nancy Lee Powers, 77, of Peck, Kansas, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2025, in Sedgwick County.
Nancy was born on October 22, 1947, to John Franklin Wilhite and Bernice Nellie Pearson. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved daughter, Dana Powers.
A woman of diverse talents and boundless curiosity, Nancy graduated from Mercer Island High School in 1965 and went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts degree from Central Washington State College in 1970, where she majored in Art, Spanish, and Anthropology—a testament to her wide-ranging interests and love of learning.
Throughout her professional life, Nancy demonstrated remarkable versatility and skill. She worked as a stock trader, a real estate broker, and as a wiring designer for a major airplane manufacturing company, bringing precision and creativity to every endeavor.
Nancy's true passion, however, was her deep connection with animals and the natural world. She had a special gift for raising and training horses, a pursuit that brought her immense joy throughout her life. In retirement, Nancy devoted herself to creating art and caring for her beloved animals, which included her horse, cat, and chickens. Her days were filled with the simple pleasures of artistic expression and the companionship of the creatures she loved so dearly.
Nancy will be remembered for her artistic spirit, her gentle way with animals, and her multifaceted life that touched many different worlds. Per Nancy's wishes, no service will be held.
Her remains will be returned to her home state of Washington, to be scattered on Mount Rainier, where her spirit can rest among the majestic peaks she knew and loved.
