Nancy Alice Sipes, 82, died August 4, 2026 at her home in Wellington, Kansas surrounded by her family.

She was born on July 2, 1944 in Wellington, the daughter of Roy Eston and Mattie Montene Clark Shirley. Nancy was raised in Wellington where she graduated with the Class of 1962 from Wellington High School.

She married James H. “Jim” Sipes on November 20, 1962 in Wellington. He died on November 27, 1999.

Nancy had worked for the Kansas Turnpike for 20 years as a toll collector. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include her sons Toby Sipes of Wellington, Sam Sipes of Hutchinson; daughter Kelly Sipes of Dallas, Texas; sister Cecilia “CK” Holeman of Amarillo, Texas; grandchildren Brittany Sipes, Briley Long, Jesseca Sipes (Derrick Smith), Ryan Sipes, Deborah Farley (Adam), MacKenzie Henry (Keegan), Chopper (granddog), Maple (granddog); and great grandchildren Karlie Sipes, Karl Sipes, Kalie Sipes, Jimmie Kindy, Justice Henry, Jovie Farley, Jayden Farley, and Karsyn Kennedy.

Nancy is preceded in death by her father; mother Mattie Montene Zimmerman; and husband Jim.

A Celebration of Life will be announced later. Inurnment will take place at Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Wellington.
