Nevin Adis Surface, 81, of Marquette, KS passed away on March 7, 2025.

Nevin was born in Lindsborg, KS on March 6, 1944, son of Walter and Lola Surface. Growing up he attended Marquette schools. Nevin married Deanna Marie Bernard August 24, 1963 in Long Beach, CA while he was serving in the Navy. This union was blessed with two children. A daughter, Kimberly Marie and son Nevin "Bub" Adis. After his time with the Navy the family moved back to his hometown of Marquette. Nevin was a member of the American Legion. Most of his life, Nevin was self-employed. He was talented in many areas including, painting, remodeling homes, hunting, fishing, trapping, and gardening.  He also knew the best places to pick berries and sand hill plums to make delicious jellies. Nevin worked several years at John's Manville in McPherson.

Nevin spent many years of his life, refinishing furniture and traveling to flea markets, with his wife, Deanna and their dog An'tiki along for the ride. This business venture was called "We Haul", because people knew him for his small size and big heart. Many memories were made on the road.

After Deanna's passing in 2010, Nevin joined a new adventure with his daughter called Jubilee market. This was a fresh produce market that Nevin helped Kimberly create for the purpose of feeding people locally and providing monetary gifts to provide food for the children of Mbita Emmanuel Children's home in Kenya Africa. without Nevin's skills and knowledge of planting, harvesting, and tending a garden this would not have been possible. Many people enjoyed the wonderful produce, but the greatest gift was for those that took the time to sit and visit with Nevin. Once his health started to decline there was no way to keep up with the garden any longer. Nevin is being missed in many ways. Another one of his favorite things was spending time with his children and grandchildren. Anyone that met him also knew of his great love for animals.

Nevin was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Lola Surface. A brother Bradley Surface, his wife, Deanna, Marie Surface and a great grandson Hendrix Koenig.

He is survived by his children, Kimberly Snyder (Jeff) of McPherson, KS. Nevin "Bub" Surface of Elyria, KS. Grandchildren Meggan Koenig (Tyson) of McPherson,KS. Tyler Spohn (Melissa) of Lindsborg, KS. Chelsi Ruhnke (Trevor) of Bonner Springs, KS. Kyle Surface (Janessa) of McPherson, KS. Great Grandchildren Grayson Koenig, Kenna Koenig, Henley Spohn, Judson Spohn, Maven Spohn and Anora Ruhnke. Brother Lynn Surface of Colorado and many other family members.
