Opal Mae Owens Dooty, 92, died Saturday, November 9, 2024 at her home in Wichita surrounded by her family.

She was born on April 7, 1932 in Mannford, Oklahoma, the daughter of Everett William Varnell and Gracie Stottlemeyer Varnell. Opal was raised in the Mannford, OK area.

She had lived in the Wichita area for several years. Opal married Al Dooty on May 6, 2006 in Jacksonville, Florida. They lived in the Medford, Oklahoma area until moving to Wichita in December 2023.

She loved to crochet and enjoyed doing word puzzles and working in her garden.

Survivors include her husband Al Dooty of the home in Wichita; Daughter Linda Chapman and husband Bryan of Sedgwick, daughter-n-law Karen Duncan of Wichita, daughter Cherry Fowler of Adair, Okla, daughter Terri Owings and husband Tom of Wichita, son Phillip Owens and wife Lana of Goddard, daughter Janet Fuller of Wichita; 24 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by two step-sons Tim Dooty of Weatherford, Okla. and Bobby Dooty of Wakita.

Opal is preceded in death by her parents; son Jimmy Duncan; daughter Kay Gibbs and her husband Roger; along with several brothers and sisters.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Friday, November 15 at the Living Word Outreach, 1513 E. Galena Street, Wichita.
