Obituary

Pamela Densa Smith, 66, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at her home.

Born on August 6, 1960, in Frederick, Oklahoma, Pamela was the daughter of William Henry Johnson, Jr. and Lena Mae Homer Finley. She spent her early years in Frederick, where she attended school, and later made her home in Lawton, Oklahoma. Throughout her life, Pamela also called Oklahoma City, Warr Acres, Midwest City, and El Reno, Oklahoma, home before relocating to Wichita, Kansas, in August 2016.

Pamela was a woman whose vibrant personality, infectious smile, and joyful spirit could brighten any room. A lively Leo through and through, she embraced life with enthusiasm, warmth, and a genuine love for bringing people together. Whether surrounded by family, entertaining friends, or simply enjoying life's everyday moments, Pamela had a remarkable gift for making those around her feel welcomed, appreciated, and loved.

Music was one of Pamela's greatest joys. Her appreciation for music spanned generations, with Sade and Mary J. Blige holding special places among her favorite artists. Never one to sit on the sidelines when a good song was playing, Pamela loved to sing along, get up and dance, and share her happiness with everyone around her. Her laughter, energy, and love of music helped turn ordinary gatherings into unforgettable celebrations.

Equally memorable was Pamela's extraordinary love for cooking, particularly during the holidays. Her Thanksgiving dinners were legendary among those fortunate enough to enjoy them. From her delicious dressing, collard greens, and ham to her beloved sweet potato pies and peach cobbler, every dish was prepared with care and served with love. For Pamela, cooking was never simply about preparing a meal. It was about bringing family together, creating memories, and making sure everyone left her table with a full stomach and a happy heart.

Her kitchen was more than a place to prepare food; it was a place where love was expressed, traditions were born, and memories were made.

Pamela's passion for cooking, entertaining, and celebrating family became one of the many beautiful gifts she passed down to her children. Her daughter, Koydie, and son, Adrian, carry forward their mother's cherished traditions, keeping her spirit of love, togetherness, and hospitality alive. Adrian was especially inspired by Pamela's unforgettable holiday meals, learning to prepare grand holiday feasts of his own. Together, Koydie and Adrian will continue to honor their mother's memory through the love they share, the traditions they preserve, and the memories they create for generations to come.

Above all, Pamela understood that some of life's most precious moments were found in its simplest pleasures: good food, good music, laughter, dancing, and the company of those she loved. Her generosity, warmth, and ability to make every gathering feel like a celebration are among the many wonderful qualities that will forever define her memory.

Pamela leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughter, Koydie Finley of Wichita, Kansas; her loving son, Adrian Mason of Austin, Texas; her brother, Ernest Finley, Jr. of Lawton, Oklahoma; and her sisters, Betty Taylor and Monica Finley, both of Lawton, Oklahoma; along with extended family, friends, and loved ones whose lives were touched by her presence.

She was preceded in death by her father, William Henry Johnson, Jr.; her mother, Lena Mae Homer Finley; her beloved son, Levell Finley; her brothers, Delbert Finley, Michael Finley, and Patrick Finley; and her sister, Ernestine Finley.

Although Pamela's earthly journey has come to an end, the love she shared and the memories she created will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew her. Her legacy lives on through the family she cherished, the traditions she established, the laughter she inspired, and the countless moments of joy she brought into the world.

Her laughter will echo in the stories we tell. Her love will live on in the traditions we carry forward. And her beautiful smile will continue to shine through the generations she leaves behind.

Forever loved. Forever remembered. Forever in our hearts.
