Paul Alvin Brown Jr., 63, sprinted through the finish line of life on November 1, 2024, leaving behind a legacy as colorful, enduring, and love-filled as the Kansas sunsets he grew up under. Born in Dodge City to his biological parents, Camilla Jefferson and Paul Brown, Paul's life story was one of perseverance, love, and chosen family.

Though life handed Paul some challenges early on, he always made it clear that family isn't defined by DNA but by love and choice. His adopted parents, David and Marcia Boal, raised him alongside his adopted brothers, Adam and Aaron, a bond that enriched Paul's understanding of what it meant to belong. Paul was also blessed with his biological siblings, Brenda and Anthony, who shaped his early years.

Paul's children, son Jerrad and daughter Savanna, were his pride and joy, and his grandchildren, Makiyah, Chase, Isabella, Mason, Natalia, Zavian, and Zhavia, were the light of his life. Whether cheering from the bleachers, snapping photos, or sneaking post-game snacks, Paul was the ultimate grandpa—there for every touchdown, track meet, and halftime show, with a Cowboys hat firmly in place.

Speaking of sports, Paul's athleticism was legendary. A standout at Washington High School in Kansas City, Paul earned all-city everything honors, snagging a full-ride scholarship to the University of Kansas. While the Olympic dream didn't pan out, the coach's confidence in him proved prophetic in other ways—Paul's life was one big marathon of love, laughter, and showing up for the people who mattered most.

A die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan (yes, he really stuck it out through the bad seasons), Paul's passion for sports extended beyond the NFL. From Chiefs games to KU basketball and WSU volleyball, he soaked in the energy of every Kansas sporting event he could attend. His greatest joy, though, was watching his grandchildren dominate the court, field, stage, and even the band room.

Paul had a knack for building things—both literally and figuratively. His career in construction kept him busy, but his work partners became family, proving Paul's talent for turning co-workers into lifelong companions. Outside of work, Paul could often be found on the golf course, where his swing was as unpredictable as Kansas weather. Who needs a hole-in-one when you can get a mulligan?

Sunday mornings, Paul was a faithful fixture at Life Church, worshipping the Lord he loved so dearly. His faith was unwavering, and his relationship with Christ defined the foundation of his life. After church, he could usually be found at brunch, swapping stories and laughs over a plate of something fried and delicious.

Paul leaves behind countless friends, family, and admirers who adored his quick wit, generous spirit, and unmatched ability to light up a room. Preceding him in death are his biological mother, Camilla; his brother, Anthony; his beloved wife, Diann; and cherished friends Josh, Christine, Gina, and many others he's now joyfully reunited with in heaven.

Though Paul was married several times, he would be the first to admit he was a bit of a romantic. He loved deeply and was deeply loved in return by all the women lucky enough to share part of his journey.

Paul's life was a testament to resilience, faith, and the power of showing up. He leaves behind a family bound not just by blood but by the love he gave freely and abundantly.

Paul's homecoming celebration will be held Monday, November 18th at 2:00pm at Life Church- 338 N 127th St E, Wichita, Kansas 67206.
