Peggy Ellen Lewis, born on December 5th, 1959, in Newhall, California, to Fred and Pauline Wharry-Ockert, passed away at the age of 65 after a life full of love, resilience, and cherished memories. Peggy was one of ten siblings. She is preceded in death by her father, Fred Ockert her mother, Pauline Wharry-Ockert, her brothers Fred, Terry, and Ernie Ockert, and her husband, Harris Lee Lewis.

Peggy is survived by siblings, Beth Hurt (Mark), Bill Ockert (Susan), Randy Ockert, Melody Ticknor (Ken), Marcey McGee (Darrell), and Jason Ockert. She is also survived by her daughter, Amanda Mussat, her son-in-law, Domenic Mussat, and her grandsons, Jax, Bosten, and Taylor Mussat. Peggy also leaves behind many nieces and nephews that she cherished and loved, as well as her furry companions, Pretty Girl and Molly.

Peggy's childhood was marked by frequent travels between Kansas and California, creating fond memories of camping out at rest areas with her family.

In 1978, Peggy met her first husband; and from their brief marriage came her only child, Amanda Ann Looper. When Amanda was six months old, they moved to Kansas, making it their forever home.

In 1984, Peggy was introduced to Harris Lee Lewis by her brother Terry, and they quickly fell in love. They lived in Andover and Benton, Kansas, before settling in Eureka in 1988. Peggy worked at Medical Lodge of Eureka, starting as a nurse and later becoming a Marketing Director. She also worked briefly as a live-in nurse in Sedan, Kansas, and at the El Dorado Correctional Facility.

Peggy and Harris faced many challenges together, including the 2018 Eureka tornado that destroyed their home. They moved back and continued their life together until Harris's unexpected passing in 2022. After living in Eureka for 36 years. Peggy then moved to Haysville, Kansas, in 2023, to be closer to her daughter Amanda, son-in-law, and grandsons.

In January 2025, Peggy was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, which ultimately led to her passing.

Peggy will be missed dearly by many including her furry companions and grandsons.
