Phyllis Marie McCune, 80, of Newton, Kansas died Friday, January 24, 2025 at Park City Home in Hillsboro, Ks.

She was born on August 11, 1944 in Wichita, Kansas. Phyllis was raised in the Wichita and later moved to Sedgwick, Kansas where she worked at the nursing home for several years.

Phyllis returned to Wichita where she lived until moving to Newton in 2017. She enjoyed spending time with her dog, Bella as well as doing puzzles.

Survivors include her sons Gary Martin of Newton, Christopher Zook of Wichita, Michael Rector of Larned; brother Vernon Martin of Olathe, Ks; step-sister Sharon Hoover of Wichita; and 11 grandchildren.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her father Rea Milton Martin; mother Lydia Christine Liabel; son Walter Edward McCune; daughter Heather Jeanette McCune; step-brothers Jimmy Liabel; Paul Crum; step-sisters Sharon Hoover and Vicki Westerlund.
