Ramon Rodriguez, beloved father, grandfather, community leader, and man of faith, peacefully entered the presence of his Lord after a life richly lived in service to his family, community, and God on November 3, 2026.
Born on May 7, 1940, in Cali, Colombia, Ramon spent his early years embracing the vibrant culture, traditions, and values of his homeland. Driven by determination and hope for a brighter future, he immigrated to the United States, where he pursued his education, completed his path to American citizenship, and built a life defined by perseverance, hard work, and service to others.
Ramon was a proud Colombian-American who never forgot his roots. At a time when Hispanic culture had limited visibility and representation in the Kansas City area, he became a passionate advocate for the Hispanic community. Through his efforts, many people were introduced to the rich traditions, values, and spirit of Latin American culture. His influence helped build understanding, community, and lasting connections among people from diverse backgrounds.
One of Ramon’s greatest contributions was his pioneering role in establishing and promoting men's soccer leagues in Kansas City. His love for the game went far beyond the field. Soccer became a means through which he united families, friends, and entire communities. Through these leagues, countless individuals found fellowship, competition, cultural connection, and a sense of belonging. The impact of his dedication continues to be felt today by generations of players and families who benefited from his vision and leadership.
Above all else, Ramon was a man of God. His faith served as the foundation of his life and guided his decisions, relationships, and service to others. He lived with humility, compassion, and an unwavering trust in the Lord. He was known for offering encouragement, wisdom, and kindness to those around him, often putting the needs of others before his own. His example of faith and integrity left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Ramon's greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted father who treasured his children and took immense pride in their accomplishments. He was also a loving grandfather whose wisdom, stories, humor, and affection created cherished memories that will live on for generations.
He is survived by his two children and eight grandchildren, who will forever carry forward his values, faith, and love. While they mourn the loss of his earthly presence, they rejoice in the assurance that he now rests in eternal peace with his Savior.
Ramon will be remembered not only for what he accomplished, but for the lives he touched. His legacy lives on in the family he loved, the community he helped build, the sport he promoted, and the faith he faithfully lived. He leaves behind a powerful example of courage, perseverance, generosity, and devotion to God.
"Well done, good and faithful servant." – Matthew 25:23
Though he will be deeply missed, Ramon Rodriguez's influence and spirit will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him.
