Richard "Dick"
Robbins
Jan 25, 1934 — Oct 6, 2026
Dodge City, KS
Richard "Dick" David Robbins, beloved husband, father, grandfather and pastor, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2026, at the age of 92, with his family by his side.
Dick was born on January 25, 1934, in Wichita, Kansas, and grew up in El Dorado. He learned the value of hard work at an early age, holding many jobs while growing up, and that same work ethic carried into his life's calling. He graduated from Southwestern College in Winfield and went on to earn his Master of Divinity from the Iliff School of Theology in Denver.
In 1960, Dick began a 50-year ministry as a United Methodist pastor, serving congregations across Kansas in the Kansas West and Great Plains Annual Conferences. From 1982 to 1988, he served as District Superintendent of the Wichita District, offering guidance and support to pastors and churches throughout the region. He retired in 2010 in Dodge City. Even in retirement, his heart for service continued as he ministered as chaplain at the Kansas Soldiers' Home and at Hospice of the Prairie in Dodge City, bringing comfort to veterans, patients and families during some of life's most difficult moments.
Dick loved God, and he loved people. He had a warm heart and a quick wit, and he was cherished by the many parishioners whose lives he touched over the years. He loved to preach, and he loved telling a good joke almost as much as hearing one. Family was at the center of his life. He was deeply involved in his children's lives and could often be found cheering from the stands at their sporting events. He also loved his dogs, who were his faithful companions and never far from his side.
Dick is survived by his wife, Christie Robbins; his son, Duane Robbins (Jacqueline); his daughter, Denise Faught (Bobby); his stepson, Aaron Scott (Heather); his grandchildren, Morgan, Jared, Travis, Danielle, Brynley and Kye; and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date in the Wichita area, and details will be shared once the time and place have been set
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Hospice of the Prairie, 200 Fourth Circle, Dodge City, KS 67801.
Arrangements are by Affordable Cremations Plus, Wichita, Kansas.
