Bob was born in Winfield, Kansas on August 9, 1932.  Bob enjoyed hunting and fishing as a young boy. He attended Southwestern University after high school. He later joined the U.S. Marines.  And while stationed in Japan he met a young lady, Miresu Ito, who was working as a dental hygienist at the Naval air Facility Atsugi.  They were married in Japan and had their first child, Margaret before moving to the United States.

After arriving in the United States, Bob finished his teaching degree and master's at Pittsburg State College while the family grew. They had three more children, Dale, Don, and Neal.  Several teaching jobs followed with his longest service in the Goddard Public Schools teaching industrial arts.  Before fully retiring, Bob worked in Wichita for the Wend Wood Inc. cabinet making shop.

Bob loved working with wood and building things.  He built a large wood shop at home and many friends and family received hand crafted gifts over the years.
