Obituary

Robert "Bob" Lee Murguia, known affectionately by many as Bubba, Hoss, The Mexican, and Bobby Magee, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2024, surrounded by his loving daughters Monica, Holly, Lesa, and son-in-law Anthony.

Born on September 1, 1947, in Los Angeles, Bob moved to Wichita, Kansas, where he grew up and built a life rooted in humility, strength, and love. A proud Marine, devoted father, and lifelong enthusiast of classic Mopar cars, '60s music, and golf.  Bob lived authentically and was always loyal to his family and friends.

Bob proudly served in the Marines during the Vietnam War from 1966-1969. Upon returning home, he joined the Wichita Police Department, where he served as a lieutenant in the 1980s. He later transitioned to a long career with the United States Postal Service, retiring after many years of dedicated service. Even in retirement, Bob continued to serve his community, working part-time for the Udall Police Department.

In his retirement, Bob fully embraced life, spending his time immersed in the things he loved—restoring and enjoying his classic cars, playing countless rounds of golf, and cherishing moments with family and friends.

Bob is survived by his five daughters, Monica Rael (Anthony), Yvonne Murguia, Holly Kinney (Tony Calacat), Lesa Mullen (Sean), and Aimee Murguia; his step daughter Janette Polley, as well as his 14 grandchildren, Sarah Rael, Anthony Rael Jr., Tanner Foulk, Mia (Josiah) Christensen, Tavian Foulk, Kallen Kinney, Makenna Christian, BreLee Shamburg, Haydin Kinney, Brilynn Shamburg, Liam Mullen, Levi Mullen, Bristol Shamburg, his three great-grandchildren Lianna, Apollo, and Beni Cuardra. As well as his countless friends and loved ones who were fortunate to have known him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Julian and Angelita (Mendoza) Murguia.

A dedicated father, a decorated Marine, and a man who stayed true to himself, Bob left a lasting legacy that will be remembered by all whose lives he touched.

As we honor his life and legacy, we say goodbye to Bob Murguia—our dad, our protector, and our hero. He always told us we were his angels, and now, he will forever be ours.

Semper Fi, Dad. You will be deeply missed.
