Ronald Dean Atencio, 58, of Cheney, Kansas, passed away Friday, November 21, 2025 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita with his family at his side.

He was born on April 9, 1967 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Ronald was raised in the Albuquerque area where he graduated from Manzano High School. He continued to live there until moving to Wichita 40 years ago.

Ronald was a handy-man and always willing to help someone out. He was an avid Pickleball player and could regularly be found on the courts at Seneca Park and Sedgwick County Park. He enjoyed cooking, especially anything that included Hatch Green Chilis. Ronald never met a stranger and loved being around people.

Survivors include his son Justin Atencio and wife Alexis of Andover; daughters Shannon Graham and husband Logan, and Kaely Atencio all of Wichita. His mother Phyllis Romero of Albuquerque brothers Jay Atencio and wife Joan of St. Louis, Mo, Mark Atencio and wife Kara, sister Carol Krsul all of Albuquerque. Grandchildren Gabriel Graham, Kiona Belveal, and Adalynn Cox.

Ronald is preceded in death by his father James Atencio.

A Celebration of Life will be held on December 28th at Sedgwick County Park Cottonwood Shelter at Noon.
