Scott Douglas Zerger, 71, died Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at his home in Newton, Kansas.

He was born on October 16, 1953 in Eugene, Oregon. The family later moved to Kansas where Scott was raised in the Harvey and Reno County areas, graduating from high school in Halstead.

He had lived in the Granby, Colorado area for several years, later living in Columbia, Missouri and Kansas City, Missouri before moving to Newton.

Through the years he had worked in construction and also did carpentry work. Scott enjoyed fishing and woodworking.

Survivors include his son Tyler Zerger of Burlington, Colo.; granddaughter Mercedes Zerger; along with his siblings Mike Zerger, Toby Schroeder and Charmaine Zerger.

Scott is preceded in death by his father Douglas Zerger; mother Bonnie Phillips Schroeder; and brother Skip.

No services are planned.
