Sheila Renee Morton, 65, of Abilene, Kansas, died Thursday, March 20, 2025 at the Salina Regional Health Center in Salina, Kansas.

She was born on August 27, 1959 in Orlando, Florida, the daughter of Donald L. and Nellie M. Parker Benson. The family moved to Lincoln, Kansas where Sheila was raised and graduated from high school.

She married John F. Morton, Jr. on October 31, 1987 in Abilene, Kansas. Spending time with her family was very important to her.  Sheila loved cooking for family and friends.

Sheila had worked for 17 years at Tony's Pizza, 22 years at Debonair Kennels, and then a short time at Russell Stover before retiring.

Survivors include her daughter Shannah Barve and her husband Robert of Salina; brothers Mike Benson and wife Jolene of Brandon, S.D., Mike Benson and wife Paula of Bella Vista, Ark., Jeff Benson of Salina; granddaughter Rylee Vigil; along with her in-law's from John, Mike Morton and wife April, Steve Morton and wife Karen all of Abilene.

Sheila is preceded in death by her parents; husband John on October 31, 2024; son John Morton, III, and brothers Gregory and Ron Benson.

A Celebration of Life will be held later.
