Obituary

Shelley Elaine Tinney, 69, passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Ultra Care Home in Wichita, Kansas after her brave efforts to recover from a stroke on May 15, 2024.

She was born on October 24, 1955 at Ft. Crowder, Missouri, the daughter of Clarence Edward and Lila Faye Greenlee Tinney.

Shelley and her sister Debie enjoyed going to the casinos, playing bingo and eating out. When they were little kids Shelley stuck her head in a hand mixer and Debi turned on the mixer, "Boy, oh boy" was that funny at the time and as years went by they continued to laugh about it. Shelley had lots of people who loved her!

Shelley met Michael Behrendt of Wichita 13 years ago. They lived in a stick-style Queen Ann house built in 1880 that they were restoring. Shelley loved to cook and knit beautiful blankets and throws. She liked to play the slot machines with her girlfriends as well as going fishing with a neighbor lady. Shelley also like old jewelry and stylist clothes she would find at second hand stores.

Shelley worked seasonally in the Plant Department of Ace Hardware at Douglas and Hillside in Wichita for 12 years. They said she was the best!

Shelley was a wonderful person with a big heart. Her friends and the people she met called her "Ms Shelley." Michael loved, respected, and admired Shelley very much. She was honestly sweet and a real woman. Shelley was loved by Michael's daughters Lacei Behrendt Fernandez and husband Jorge and Fawnda Murphy along with his grandchildren Lily and Keagan; and his step-son Floyd Dickerson.

Shelley has two daughters Amanda and Amy; four sons Robbie, Richard, Ricky, and Dillon; along with her sisters Debborrah "Debie", Carmen, Geannie; and brother Michael.

Shelley's greatest treasurer was her little dog, a Brazilian Fox Terrier, named Ms Kitty!

The world lost a wonderful human being. Shelley will be missed by her family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time.
