Sherman Earl Fry

Sherman “Earl” Fry, 82, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2026 at Diversicare Nursing Home in Hutchinson, Ks. 

Earl was born in Iuka, KS to Livingston and Gladys Fry. He lived most of his life in Salina, KS. He graduated from Salina Central High School and completed one year of college before joining the Army. He served in Korea, Vietnam, and Germany. 

He married Susan Johannes on February 28, 1968. They were blessed with 2 children, Angel and Allan. 

Earl was honorably discharged in 1968 with 100% disability. He received medals and citations: Air Medal W/5 OLC, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 1 bronze Service Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device, Expert Badge with Rifle Bar, and two O/S bars. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, American Legion, and the Moose Lodge. 

He loved going to Kansas racetracks and was a photographer at several of them for many years. 

Earl is survived by his wife, Susan. Two children, Angel (Jason) Fauci-Wills, and Allan (Mike Hall) Fry. Grandchildren, Summer, Xander, and Levi Fauci-Wills. A brother, Steve Fry of Idaho and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Levingston Fry and Gladys Fry-Doll. Brother, Ron Fry, sisters; Rita Thompson, and Linda and her husband, Jesse James. 

Celebration of Life will be held on July 12, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at the VFW 1102 W Crawford in Salina, KS. Please join us for the service and refreshments in Earl’s memory. 

Donations can be made to Interim Hospice in Salina or Hutchinson.
