Shirley (Smith) Pannell, 75, of Haysville, KS went to join her husband, Curtis Pannell, and parents, Stella (Taylor) and Jimmie Smith on June 15, 2025.

Shirley was well known in Wichita and the surrounding towns due to her career as a manager at Total and Kwik Shop convenience stores. She will be remembered for her lack of patience with lazy employees but was always the first to step up when anyone needed a helping hand.  Her wit and humor stayed sharp right up to the end and kept us all laughing, despite our tears.

As well as her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Sherrian Roberson and her brother, Rickie Smith. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Smith, grandchildren, Samuel Stokes, Sonia Holmes-Scheminske, and Andrew Holmes-Scheminske, great-grandsons, Archer Stokes, Wyatt Holmes-Scheminske, Colton Holmes-Scheminske and Griffin Stokes. She also leaves behind sisters, Sharla Howlett, Sheila Hervey, Sherry Hendricks, brother, Ron Smith and many nieces, nephews and much-loved extended family. Her closest friends, Nancy Alford and Reva Walker, and their families, held a special place in her heart and she was known to be a great friend to many others.

A celebration memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 28th, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at 156 W 87th Street South, Haysville, KS 67060.

One of Mom's last requests was that I tell each of you that she loves you.
