Shirley Ann Vaughn, 91, of Halstead, Kansas, died Sunday, April 26, 2026 at the home of her daughter in Sedgwick, Kansas surrounded by her family.

She was born on April 19, 1935 in Williamsburg, Ohio, the daughter of Robert and Catharine Hopkins Smith. Shirley was raised and attended schools in Williamsburg.

She married David Lee Vaughn, Sr. on July 12, 1952 in Cincinnati, Ohio. They lived in Ohio until 1974 when they moved to Anaheim, California. In 1996 Shirley and David left California and moved to Ash Fork, Arizona – spending time in Arizona and Florida until moving to Halstead 19 years ago.

Through the years Shirley would baby sit for people. She enjoyed shopping and going to garage sales, playing bingo and watching movies.

Survivors include her husband David of the home in Halstead; son David Vaughn, Jr. and wife Michelle of Bentley, Ks.; daughters Christena Griffin and Sheila Tolin both of Sedgwick, Teresa Boucher and husband Jim of Las Vegas, Nevada, Pam Wallmeier of Lee Summit, Missouri; 12 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; and 15 great-great grandchildren.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents and nine siblings.

Private family services will be held.
