Obituary

Siu Ying Hong, 72, died Friday, January 16, 2026 at her home in Wichita, Kansas.

The casket will be open between 5:00 P.M. and 7:30 P.M., Tuesday, January 27 at Affordable Cremations Plus in Wichita, Kansas.

She was born on November 9, 1953 in Amoy, China, the daughter of Wen de Li and Liang Yaun Zhu. Siu Ying attended schools in China and married Ko Hong on May 8, 1980 in Hong Kong.

Shortly after being married they moved to Tonopah, Nevada and later moved to Salt Lake City, Utah. They have lived in the Wichita area for the past 35 years. Siu Ying and Ko owned Ying's Chinese Restaurant in Derby for several years before opening the Yellow River Chinese Restaurant on East Pawnee in Wichita which they owned for 14 years before retiring in 2016.

Siu Ying was a longtime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Survivors include her two sons Kelly Hong and Wesley Hong both of Wichita; brother Rui Chieh Li of Ontario, Canada; and sister Hui Min Li of Quanzhou, China.

She is preceded in death by her husband in 2017 as well as her parents.
