Storm Marlar

Storm Andrew Marlar, beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on July 23, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, athleticism, and faith. Born on December 6, 1991, in Ottawa, Kansas, to Tim and Karen Marlar, Storm lived a life defined by his fierce loyalty to his family, his passion for sports, and his deep-rooted faith.

Growing up, Storm was the cherished brother of Seth Marlar and Sarah Weeks. He was proud to be a brother-in-law to Brandon Weeks and Kelly Marlar. He was a proud and loving uncle to his nephews—Jackson, Kade, Peyton, Eli, and Braeden—and his niece, Elly. Storm was blessed with many aunts, uncles, and cousins whom he held close to his heart, and he loved them all deeply.

From a young age, Storm’s spiritual foundation was established. He proudly accepted Jesus as his Savior when he was in the fourth grade during Meridian Baptist AWANA, a faith that guided him throughout his life.

When Storm was being admitted to hospice, he was asked several questions and told the admitting nurse that he knew two things for sure: he was a human, and he was a son of Christ. Blessed by God as an exceptionally talented athlete, Storm was an outstanding baseball player who earned widespread recognition for his skill on the diamond. His dedication to the sport led him to play collegiate baseball at Cowley Community College and later for the Newton Rebels, where he left an unforgettable mark on his teammates and coaches. Off the field, Storm remained a lifelong, passionate sports fan, always cheering on his favorite teams, the Kansas City Royals and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Storm’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 30 between 5:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M. at the Meridian Baptist Church, 1130 West Broadway, Newton, Kansas 67114.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, July 31 also at the Meridian Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Newton,

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established with Meridian Baptist Church or the Newton High School Baseball Team.

The family has entrusted Storm’s care with Affordable Cremations Plus, Wichita, Kansas.
