Stuart Nelson Martin, 87, of Goddard, died Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at the Harry Hynes Hospice Center of Ascension Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis Campus in Wichita, Kansas.

He was born on June 16, 1937 in Wichita, the son of Arthur and Wilma Martin. Stuart was raised in Wichita where he graduated from Wichita North High School and later attended Wichita State University.

He married Dona Rose Franklin on February 1, 1957 in Wichita. The last several years they have lived in Goddard and are members of The Goddard Church.

Stuart had been a fireman for the Wichita Fire Department for a few years before becoming a pilot of The Law Company in Wichita for 16 years. He started doing woodworking and became a sculpture for over 30 years. Stuart traveled across the country presenting seminars for wood carving and was able to have several of his pieces displayed in many art galleries throughout the United States.

He had been a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Midian Shrine, and Ducks Unlimited and enjoyed being an avid hunter.

Survivors include his wife Dona of the home in Goddard; two daughters Lisa (Brent) Lobile of Wichita and Janna Martin of Derby; six grandchildren Jessica (Anthony) Gordon, Jamie Swanson, Sutton (Katy) Martin, Bailey (Gerald) Wilson, Zane (Amy) Martin and Nicholas Martin; along with 11 great grandchildren.

Stuart is preceded in death by his parents; son Jeff Martin; and sister Judy Martin.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 15 at The Goddard Church, 300 N. Cedar, Goddard, Kansas.
