Susan Louise Mabry, 72, passed away on July 25, 2026, in Wichita, Kansas. Born on October 13, 1953, in Hammond, Louisiana, she was the beloved daughter of Edward and Louise Marvin.
Susan spent many years in Bentley, Kansas, where she built a meaningful career with Parents as Teachers in the Hutchinson School District. Her work touched countless families, and her dedication continued until her retirement in 2017. In 2019, she moved to Topeka to lovingly care for her parents, a testament to her deep sense of responsibility and compassion. She found joy in the simple, beautiful parts of life—birdwatching, crocheting, and sharing time with her children and grandchildren. Her presence was gentle, steady, and warm, the kind that made people feel at home.
Susan is survived by her children: Andrea Odendahl (Scott), Chrissy Cottrell (Travis), Doug Mabry (Amanda), Ben Mabry (Ashley), Zack Mabry (Brandy), Josh Mabry (Chelsea), Hunter Jacob, 20 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, her sisters Kim and Kippy, and her longtime companion, Danny Jacob. Her family was her greatest pride, and her love for them was unwavering. She was preceded in death by her parents, whom she cared for with devotion.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 3, 2026 at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Bentley, Kansas, where friends and family will gather to honor her life, her kindness, and the legacy she leaves behind. Luncheon to be held at Bentley Senior Center immediately following the service.
