Thelma Jean McComb,87, longtime Wellington resident died Sunday August 16,2026, at Villa Maria in Mulvane, Kansas.

Jean was born on November 30, 1938 in Solgohachia, Arkansas, to Ernest and Lela Mullican Powell, where She was raised and graduated from Wonder View high school .

After high school, Jean visited her brother Alvin in Wellington KS , where she met and married Ernest McComb. They made Wellington their home and had two children. Ernest worked for the Santa Fe Railroad.

Through the years she had been a member of the Church of Christ and enjoyed going to the lake.

Survivors include her only son, David McComb of Wellington; brothers Gerald Powell of Morrilton Arkansas, Tommy Powell of Bryant Arkansas and many nieces and nephews.

Jean is preceded in death by her parents; husband Ernie, daughter Nancy McComb, and brothers Glen and Alvin Powell.
