Thiet Van Nguyen, 86, of Wichita, Kansas, died Sunday, December 29, 2024 at the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice Center of Ascension Via Christi Medical Center-St. Francis Campus in Wichita.

He was born on June 16, 1938 in Long An, Vietnam, the son of Qua Van Nguyen and Ve Thi Le. Thiet served as a Policeman in Vietnam and worked with the U.S. Military. He was in prison for six years under the Vietnam Communist.

Thiet and his family moved from Vietnam to Wichita nearly 30 years ago. He had been a machine operator for Metal Fab in Wichita for several years. Thiet was a member of the Immanuel Vietnamese Baptist Church in Wichita. When he wasn't watching television, he enjoyed working in his garden and fishing.

Survivors include his wife Anh Kim Nguyen of the home; his children Henry Nguyen of Florida, Dung Nguyen of Wichita, Sara Haskins of Florida, Thu-Thuy Nguyen of Florida, and Eric Son Nguyen of Maryland; sister Hien Thi Nguyen of Vietnam; and 10 grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Friday, January 3, 2025 at the Immanuel Vietnamese Baptist Church, 1401 West Maple, Wichita, Kansas.
