Thomas Ray Yingling, 77, died Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at his home in Wichita, Kansas.

He was born on August 12, 1947 at the Hammond Henry County Hospital in Geneseo, Illinois, the son of Archie and Gladys Anderson Yingling.

Tom was educated in Geneseo schools, the family moved in 1964 to McPherson, Kansas where he attended his senior year and graduated in 1965. He attended Central College and McPherson College until 1969.

Tom married Shirley Petersen on August 2, 1975 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in McPherson. They moved to Wichita and remained there until his death.

He worked in the restaurant business and later working for Wichita U.S.D. #259 Food Service as a Production Supervisor. Tom worked for the district for 20 years until his retirement in 2009.

Tom and Shirley were active members of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Wichita since 1975.

Survivors include his wife Shirley; sister Anita Allen of Dallas, Texas, his twin sister Sharon Ledell of McPherson; many nieces, nephews, great as well as great-great nieces and nephews.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents; brother Glen Yingling; and great-great nephew Conner Janzen.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established with Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 1101 N. River Blvd., Wichita, Kansas.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 P.M., Saturday, December 7 at the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Wichita.
