Wayne Floyd Davis

Wayne Floyd Davis, 94, of Wichita, passed away Friday, October 16, 2026 at his home surrounded by his loving family and caregivers.

He was born on October 1, 1932 in Seminole, Oklahoma, the son of John H. Davis and Marie Ball Davis (Ward). Wayne spent his early years living with his grandparents on their family farm in Oklahoma. He graduated from North High School in Wichita.

After high school, Wayne enlisted in the Air Force and served from 1950 to 1953. Once discharged, he returned to Wichita and worked at the Boeing plant and met Evelyn Marie Geist. They married on February 19, 1955 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wichita. Wayne and Evelyn remained in Wichita for the remainder of their marriage to raise their five daughters. They were married almost 70 years.

Wayne joined the Wichita Fire Department in August 1955 and served for over 30 years before retiring as Captain in 1985.

He enjoyed racing stock cars when he was younger, and later enjoyed fishing, camping, motorcycles, and boating with his wife, family, and friends. In his later years, Wayne loved watching Nascar, college basketball, and cheering for the KC Royals and KC Chiefs.

Wayne is survived by his five daughters: Janet Bailey, Kathy Lohkamp and Linda Steiner, all of Wichita, Mindy Emery (Martin) of Forestburg, Texas, and Nancy Hallacy (Kevin) of Wichita; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; brother Eldon Ward of Wichita.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Evelyn Davis; son-in-law Kenny Bailey; grandson Thomas “Tad” Doyle; brother Newt Ward.

Wayne and Evelyn will be placed together in their final resting place at Resthaven Cemetery. A Celebration of Life is to be determined.
