Wilbert "Bill" Tatman, 92, of Wichita, died Sunday, November 10, 2024, at Reflection Living in Wichita surrounded by his wife and family.
He was born on March 13, 1932, in Wichita, the son of Cooley and Laly Stewart Tatman. Bill was a graduate of Wichita North High School.
In 1950 Bill worked for the Wichita Police Department where he served for several years. He and Janice Faye Ricketts married on November 2, 1958, in Wichita.
Bill later went to work as an agent for A.T.F. that took him and Jan and his family across the country for 20 years. Bill eventually returned to Wichita where he became Assistant Range Master. Bill trained new recruits for WPD in firearm handling and safety. Bill would retire from the WPD after serving 17 years.
Bill and Jan are members of the New Hope Community Church in Valley Center. Bill held a Black Belt in Karate, enjoyed playing racquetball, and had a love for canoeing.
Bill is survived by his wife Janice, daughters Susan Marie Larson of Wichita, Lori Annette Keith and husband Jeff of Bentley; six grandchildren. Nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, daughters Shirley Ann Graham, Michelle Renee Tatman; brother Gilbert Tatman; and sister Elizabeth Tatman.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday March 29th, 2025 at the New Hope Community Church, 109 W Main Street, Valley Center, KS 67147
