Obituary

Zackary Dale Roach, 42, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away on June 11, 2026.

To know Zack was to know laughter. He was the life of the party, the friend who could make an entire room smile, and the person who always seemed to know exactly what to say to lift someone’s spirits. His quick wit, infectious sense of humor, and larger-than-life personality left a lasting mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Music was at the heart of Zack’s life. An accomplished guitarist, guitar tech and teacher, he played with numerous bands in Wichita and beyond, (Senses Fail, Spirit of the Stairs, Team Tremolo and more) sharing not only his talent but also his passion and energy with audiences, friends, students and fellow musicians. Whether on stage or off, Zack had a way of bringing people together and making them feel welcome.

Above all else, Zack loved his family. He is survived by his sons, Cain and Ramsey, who were a source of pride and joy in his life; their mother, Shaila Roach; his mother, Cynthia Roach; his mother-in-law Bobbie Downey-Hettinger; his sister Amanda McCutcheon and brother-in-law Todd McCutcheon, sister Abby Roach; his nieces and nephews Colby, Penelope, Alex, and Charlotte; and great-niece Bella; as well as countless friends and loved ones whose lives were brighter because Zack was in them.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dale Roach; and his chosen brothers Joshua Stern and Kody Ramsey.

Zack’s absence leaves an immeasurable void, but his memory lives on in every shared story, every burst of laughter, every guitar riff, and every life he touched. He reminded people not to take life too seriously, to find joy where they could, and to show up for the people they loved.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Wichita, Kansas. Details and dates will be announced at a later time.

Though his time with us was far too short, Zack’s impact was profound. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
